April 2008

As we move into the final quarter of the school year this week, your child’s teacher will be contacting you if there is a possibility of summer school or retention. Report cards are being sent home today, April 10. Third quarter progress letters will also be sent home to any student whose yearly grade average is 75 or below in any subject area. At the end of the 4th quarter, if your child has failed one subject for the year, s/he will be required to attend summer school or an enrichment program for that subject. If your child has failed two or more subjects s/he will be retained in the present grade for the next school year.

Please remember to mark your calendars for April 26. Our annual Silent Auction will be held this year at Skyline Ranch. There will be a number of really fun items to auction off that evening as well as great food and entertainment. Our Home and School auction committee has been working very diligently in preparing for a great event, so please come out and support this fundraising effort to benefit your children’s education here at St. Elizabeth School!!!

On behalf of the entire school community, I would like to thank the Reyes and Logan families for their beautiful work in creating a prayer garden in loving memory of our former student, Isabel Fernandez. This wonderful garden is adjacent to the playground that our current 6th grade Rally for Recess students and school community worked so diligently to obtain and is truly a touching tribute to Isabel.

Please note on the Important Dates for April Calendar that April 21 & 22, Monday and Tuesday, will be taken as inclement weather, or vacation days. That means that there will be no school on those days. Also please note that there will be a noon dismissal on Friday, April 18th, and no Extended Day Care on that day. Please be sure to make arrangements for your children for these days.

Please continue to keep in your prayers our 2nd graders who will be making their First Holy Communion soon in May. Let us also continue to pray for one another and for the needs of our school community! God bless!
