St. Elizabeth’s 8th grade class chose to organize this walk with the guidance of Beth Belcher, school Religion Coordinator, as their Group Service Project for Confirmation. The 8th graders manned water stations, acted as guides during the walk and were also responsible for set-up and take down once the walk concluded. This school wide project allowed the school’s 323 students to enjoy the beautiful weather, get some much needed exercise and also to demonstrate their Catholic beliefs and support of life. Most students sought sponsors for this event and far exceeded their initial goal of $625.00 – the average cost to save a baby according to Tom Clark, President of Hike for Life. Mr. Clark was on site for the walk and passed out “baby feet” pins for the students and other participants.
