The Merida Foundaton began as an individual effort to aide poor villagers living in Mexico and Peru with vision impairments. For several years the founding members had a personal comittment to fit as many men, women and children with glasses as possible.

Used prescription glasses and reading glasses were collected to be repurposed for villagers who had no means of acquiring such a basic health need.
